At the lease signing, you will receive the current inventory which will state the condition of the property and its contents. This is an extremely important document as it forms part of the agreement between you and the landlord. Once you have the keys to the property, you should make it a priority to check the inventory and make any appropriate amendments.

We require for a signed copy of the inventory to be returned to our offices no later than 7 days after the commencement of the tenancy. Failure to do so will mean that the inventory you received will stand for the remainder of the tenancy. If there is any despute with regard to the condition of the property at the end of the tenancy, it is this document that will be used as a reference point.

So it’s really in your best interests to return the signed copy.
